When you print color, even if there is 0.001% color coverage, it counts as one page. When the accumulative number of page reaches certain number, say 1400 pages, it tells you the cartridge is empty. In reality, the cartridge can be 70% full.

have had this printer for a year. it uses SO SO SO much toner and makes you replace cartridges at a set page count even if the pages are coming out fine. on most printers you can disable this warning (i have another black and white Brother printer with the sensor taped over, and cartrages go about twice as long without the sensor). I cannot figure out how to disable this one though.

I purchased a Brother HL-4070CDW about 8 months ago and have had nothing but problems with it. It jams over 50% of the time. I use weather proof label paper, card stock and 20 weight paper. Every paper I've used has jammed. The weather proof label paper is expensive and I have had to throw out 1 out of every 2 papers I try to print. Heavier paper can not be put in the paper drawer as it will not print multiple pages. The printer is not capable of printing even one page of the heavier paper placed in the drawer. Each page must be fed manually, and most of the time, the printing is crooked on the page or some of the print is cut off even though I have been very careful to hold the paper EXACTLY where it is shown on the feed. The color quality does not match the color on the computer. Also has a problem with blue lines running down/across the pages, spots of white where color should be and this is on every single page that has been printed. Tech support is of no help when trying to resolve my jamming, color, lines and spots issues. I am thoroughly and completely disgusted with this printer and severe lack of customer service and am going back to HP today. I've read reviews for the HP CP2025dn and they seem to be positive. I used to have a 4000 series HP laserjet and it worked well for many years.
